  • Confusing ABS, NSA, and ASNA. The three prefixes live in the same BOMs but are different standard systems. A base number that exists in one family does not mean the same part in another. Read the prefix first, and never let an NSA or ASNA number ride into an order as if it were ABS.
  • Boeing and NAS lookalikes. Airbus ABS parts are proprietary to Airbus standards. A dimensionally similar Boeing BAC/BACB or NAS item is not interchangeable unless the engineering authority for your application says so in writing.
  • Ordering by description. “Airbus standard bolt, medium length, corrosion-resistant” describes several different part numbers. The callout is the contract; descriptions are commentary.
